Established in 1956, the Chinese Society of NUS has developed and grown significantly over the past decades.

Established in 1956, The Chinese Society of NUS comprises one main committee and 6 interest groups, namely Chinese Orchestra, Mandofilms, Geyao, Chinese Calligraphy Society, Crosstalk and 90 Degree Drama. Currently Chinese Society comprises one main committee and 6 interest groups, namely Chinese Orchestra (est. 1956), Mandofilms (est.1985), Geyao(est.1971), Chinese Calligraphy Society(est.1996),

Crosstalk (est.2008) and 90 Degree Drama (est.2013). In Chinese Orchestra, we welcome people with zero experience to join as the club's objective is to promote the art for traditional chinese orchestra. Mandofilms initially started as stage drama production and now has transformed and focuses on micro films. We will recruit our own play writers, actors/actress, director and film crew. Join Geyao if you are one of those with exceptional music talents who can write, sing or play instruments. Every year, we will hold a concert where every single piece of song is originally composed and created by our own members. Chinese Calligraphy Society promotes Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting and Chinese Handwriting. We welcome people with various levels of skill to join. Every year, the club is holding a National Youth Calligraphy Competition. Crosstalk has regular trainings and organizes performance about Chinese crosstalk performance.

90 Degree Drama has an annual musical production. We will make our own preps, prepare the play, design the stage and recruit our own drama actors. We also hire an experienced drama director to oversee the production.
