To celebrate Catholic Education Sunday on 23rd August, CJC students and staff served at four parishes — Church of St Anthony, Church of the Transfiguration, Church of our Lady Star of the Sea and Church of St Ignatius. Being in touch with the wider Catholic community reminded CJCians of the importance of compassion and community in our Catholic education journey.

Matthew Ang, 1T04, shares that “Being able to step outside my usual environment and experience another church and community allowed me to appreciate the diversity within the Catholic Church. It reminded me that although we may express and celebrate in different ways, we are ultimately united by our same Catholic faith and community.”

“It was heartening and very touching to see all the parishioners eager to engage with us - asking us questions about CJ and even having alumni come up to share their stories,” added Elias Wong, 1T24. “To me, the backbone of Catholic education is its ethos of putting Christ at the center of all that we do. And successful Catholic education means leaving the
school as a 'fuller' person regardless of your religion.”

CJCians brought the SG61 spirit to Punggol in full force on 7 Aug 🇸🇬✨ From our uniform contigent to energetic dance routines, the heartful drama performance, and a rousing singalong at the end — our students proved that talent and school spirit shine no matter the venue. 🔥

A fitting celebration as we look ahead to calling Punggol home by 2034 — same CJC heart, new horizons. 💙

CJC’s annual literary event, Litera, was held on Friday, 24th July! 📖📚📖📚

Reflecting on this year’s theme of “Inheritance”, our guest speaker, Senior Curriculum Specialist, Mr Vadiveloo Anandaratnam, referenced André Gide, who said: “Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But since nobody listens, we have to keep going back and begin all over again.”

His sharing, along with the night’s debates and performances by students from the Creative Arts Programme, Drama Club, and J1 and J2 Literature cohort, reminded all attendees that to be Thinkers with a Mission and Leaders with Heart is to illuminate a path forward, through the shadows of our past.

To mark our future move to Punggol, CJC celebrated together with our new neighbours in the Punggol community! Our celebration reflects our commitment to lay foundations and grow roots as a CJC Family in the Punggol Community. 💙

We were privileged to welcome Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) and Grassroots Adviser Punggol North Mr Gan Kim Yong as our Guest of Honour, who delivered inspiring opening remarks about our shared future.

This occasion also marked the launch of CJC’s fundraising campaign by Mr Bernard Tan, Chairman of CJC’s School Management Committee who invited our alumni and Punggol community to support our future home. 🏫

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Mr Gan Kim Yong, the MP for the constituency welcomed CJC and said that he “looked forward to the CJC’s community activities and engagement in the Punggol district.”

Mr Bernard Tan, Chairman of CJC’s School Management Committee, also announced the launch of CJC’s fundraising campaign for the new campus. He said he “hopes that CJC alumni, parents, friends and partners will join us in generously contributing to building a vibrant campus to serve all Singaporeans.” ✨ Find out how to donate by clicking on this link - https://www.giving.sg/donate/campaign/cjc-rejuvenation-project

Officiated by our Principal, Mrs Woo Soo Min, this year’s celebration was an unforgettable one as CJC enjoyed a morning qigong session led by more than a hundred local Punggol seniors from the Qigong Shi Ba Shi Association Singapore 🇸🇬

Today, we made stories to tell, for many tomorrows.

Here’s to our new beginning in Punggol! 😊💙✨

𝘐𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘺

CJC is sad to share the news of the passing of the late Mr Philip Alvar, who was the College's Vice Principal (Administration) from 2020 to 2024. 🙏🏽

Lord our Father,
We thank you for the life of the late Mr Philip Alvar and for the privilege of having him in our midst when he was VP (Admin) of CJC.

We thank you for working through Mr Alvar to show us that with the gumption to challenge existing norms, we can make a difference in our work and the lives of those around us.

We thank you for the example set by Mr Alvar in showing grit and fighting spirit when he was ill and for living by faith throughout his battle with cancer. The passing of Mr Alvar reminds us that we have much to be grateful for and that our journey is one of faith and to bring hope to others around us.

Receive him O Lord into your holy embrace and may he enjoy eternal life with you in heaven.

May Your perpetual light shine on him. 🙏🏽

Amen

Leadership Training Camp (LTC) 2026 ⛺️

From 24 to 25 June, the J1 student leaders of CJC came together at St Francis Xavier Retreat Centre for a camp centered around the JC1 cohort theme — Grow Your Light, Colour Your World.

During their two days and one night stay, the network between student leaders across different student bodies was forged and strengthened. Through exciting activities which challenged them both mentally and physically, they learnt the five fundamental practices of a good leader — Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act and Encourage the Heart.

The J1 student leaders left the campsite with another experience to add to their . The camp was filled to the brim with memories, pushing students to take a big step towards mastering the school’s mission of becoming Thinkers with a Mission, Leaders with a Heart. 🌱❤️
