To celebrate Catholic Education Sunday on 23rd August, CJC students and staff served at four parishes — Church of St Anthony, Church of the Transfiguration, Church of our Lady Star of the Sea and Church of St Ignatius. Being in touch with the wider Catholic community reminded CJCians of the importance of compassion and community in our Catholic education journey.
Matthew Ang, 1T04, shares that “Being able to step outside my usual environment and experience another church and community allowed me to appreciate the diversity within the Catholic Church. It reminded me that although we may express and celebrate in different ways, we are ultimately united by our same Catholic faith and community.”
“It was heartening and very touching to see all the parishioners eager to engage with us - asking us questions about CJ and even having alumni come up to share their stories,” added Elias Wong, 1T24. “To me, the backbone of Catholic education is its ethos of putting Christ at the center of all that we do. And successful Catholic education means leaving the
school as a 'fuller' person regardless of your religion.”
