From surviving studio crits at SP MAD to literally packing bags for the UK… huge win incoming ✈️🇬🇧

Massive congrats to our fam girl AL ( Alicia Hong En Ting) for securing the DesignSingapore Scholarship 2026! She’s heading off to Loughborough University to do her Bachelor in Industrial Design, and honestly, we couldn’t be prouder.

If you ask her what tipped the scales, Alicia points straight back to her time on the Creative Entrepreneurial Pathway at SP MAD and the endless opportunities to learn different things at SP. It wasn’t just about making things look good on design—it taught her how to think like a founder, pitch wild ideas with confidence, and actually solve real-world problems for different communities. That hustle made all the difference.

To everyone pulling late nights staring blankly at your Figma frames or templates: take this as your sign. Don’t sleep on your own ideas. Take the risks, build the prototypes, and seize every opportunity at SP MAD.

Alicia set the bar—who’s taking notes next? ✍️🔥

From creating ideas to creating value. 💡✨

On 25 August, our Year 1 students will be hearing from three inspiring alumni who have turned their ideas into real ventures during our Drafts of Ourselves panel discussion.

🎤 Jennelle Castillo, Co-Founder of Harmonics
🎤 Al Hong, Founder of Digi-Up!
🎤 Dylan Goh, Founder of Sitwork

Moderated by Mr Lynus Hee, Senior lecturer of SP MAD.

Through their stories, experiences, and lessons from the startup journey, our panelists will share what it takes to move beyond an idea—to build, create value, navigate challenges, and turn possibilities into action.

It is inspiring to see our alumni return as founders and share their journeys with the next generation. For our Year 1 students, their experiences offer a valuable reminder that every great venture starts somewhere—with a draft, an idea, and the courage to take the first step. 🚀

Here’s to learning from those who have gone before us, embracing our own journeys, and creating value from the ideas we believe in. 🌱

From SP MAD to the world. 🌏✨

Big congratulations to XPD alumnus Givson Ong, recipient of the prestigious DesignSingapore Scholarship 2026!

His journey began at SP Media, Arts & Design, where he learnt to turn human insights into meaningful physical and digital experiences. That foundation carried him through Industrial Design at NUS—and now towards Innovation Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London.

At SP MAD, you can dream big like Givson, design boldly and see where we can take you. 🚀
