🏆 The brightest young minds in chemistry took over NTU CCEB! 🧪

Earlier this month, NTU CCEB hosted 250 brilliant aspiring chemists on our campus for the Singapore Chemistry League (SChL) 2026! 🏫

Our Acting Chair, Prof. Duan Hongwei, addressed the pre-university finalists on the impact of chemistry in solving today's challenges before presenting prizes to the winners of this competitive national tournament.

As an annual, independent, and youth-led initiative, SChL aims to foster scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and a vibrant community of future scientists.

A massive congratulations to all the winners, participants, and organizers! We loved hosting you at CCEB, and we hope to see many of you back on campus in the future! 🚀

Having traveled to nearly 100 countries, Prof Tan Howe Siang brings that same globe-trotting curiosity straight into the lab. As a physical chemist at CCEB, he studies how molecules form and break bonds during chemical reactions—events that take place in less than a trillionth of a second! ⚡

To catch these fleeting moments, his research team uses ultrashort femtosecond light 'bullets' (laser pulses) to capture molecules in action.

As our brilliant graduates embark on the next exciting chapter of their careers, we sat down with one of our own to chat about his unique journey. Meet Kim Minseo, a recent Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) graduate from NTU CCEB!

Minseo shared his memorable experiences at the school and revealed how he successfully leveraged his engineering foundation to pivot into an exciting career as a Software Engineer! 💻

Congratulations to CCEB’s Prof Warren Chan for being awarded the 11th National Research Foundation (NRF) Investigatorship. His project for the NRF Investigatorship will focus on identifying the molecules that affect the transport of drug-carrying nanoparticles in the blood.
