“Our teaching was not wrong. But being right is no longer enough.”

What happens when visible performance improves while underlying learning deteriorates?

At the International Workshop on Computing Education in the AI Age, Associate Professor Ben Leong of the National University of Singapore will examine why computing education now faces a behavioural challenge rather than merely a technological one.

His keynote, Not Broken, but At Risk: Computing Education in an AI-Driven Future, considers how educators can preserve learning, judgement and problem-solving when cognitive offloading is increasingly easy.

From the pioneer graduating class of 1992 to our newest graduates from the Class of 2026, CCDS Alumni Homecoming brought together more than three decades of NTU computing alumni. 🎓

The technology has changed dramatically. The qualities that shape computing graduates have not – curiosity, adaptability, problem-solving and the drive to keep learning.

The afternoon also marked the launch of the Harcharan Singh Benevolent Bursary on what would have been Professor Singh’s 85th birthday. As founding Dean of our predecessor School of Applied Science, he helped lay the foundations for today’s CCDS.

Thank you to everyone who returned, reconnected and shared their wisdom across generations. ❤️

A well-deserved congratulations to Mengmi Zhang on being named to the MIT Technology Review 2026 Innovators Under 35 global list!
Zhang, an assistant professor at NTU CCDS, is an Angela Goh Career Development Professor and PI of the Deep NeuroCognition Lab. She has made contributions to gaze anticipation, zero-shot visual search, contextual reasoning, working memory, and continual learning. Dr. Zhang and her team are looking into how brain computations inspire new paths in AI and how AI can help elucidate brain computations.
The MIT Technology Review’s annual Innovators Under 35 list recognizes “individuals whose superb technical work promises to shape the coming decades.” Please join us in celebrating Zhang’s contribution to artificial intelligence and computational neuroscience!

AI is moving beyond helping developers write code.

Agents can now use tools, test their work and complete larger parts of the software delivery process.

At the International Workshop on Computing Education in the AI, Chang Sau Sheong of GovTech Singapore will examine how these systems could reshape software delivery, teams and organisations – and what leaders should consider before scaling them.
