Can smaller nuclear plants power a cleaner future? ☢️

Join us tomorrow for a special seminar with Prof Chung Keng Yeow, director of the Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute (SNRSI) at NUS.

Prof Chung will share more about small modular reactors or SMRs - new nuclear technology designed to be smaller, more flexible and potentially faster to deploy than traditional plants.

He will also explore why SMRs are gaining attention, how they could be used beyond electricity and the key questions around safety, cost and adoption.

Last month, the NUS Sustainability Academy welcomed ITE and NUS students for Run 1 of the Sustainability Learning Journey: Renewable Energy & Urban Sustainability at the NUS Sustainability Academy! 🌱☀️

Over three days, students learnt about sustainability through hands-on activities, site visits and conversations with practitioners.

A huge thank you to Meta for its generous funding and support, which made this programme possible, and to wonderful partners and facilitators from ITE College, the NIE Sustainability Learning Lab, NUS College of Design and Engineering, Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) (https://www.seris.nus.edu.sg/), Sembcorp Industries Ltd, PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, The Astronauts Collective (TAC) and Brydan Group for sharing their time, expertise and experiences with our students.

Most of all, thank you to our ITE and NUS students for bringing such curiosity, enthusiasm and energy to the programme. The NUS Sustainability Academy hopes the experience inspires you to continue exploring how you can contribute to a more sustainable future!
