Koprsko mestno jedro je včeraj zaživelo v znamenju tradicionalne prireditve v organizaciji Klub Študentov Občine Koper 👏

🔵UP IAM InnoRenew CoE je tokrat obiskovalcem predstavil projekt vključevanja občanov v oblikovanje digitalnega dvojčka nepremične kulturne dediščine v starem mestnem jedru Kopra ter raziskavo o izzivih energetske prenove zaščitenih stavb.

🟢UP IAM InnoRenew CoE presented a project involving citizens in the development of a digital twin for immovable cultural heritage in Koper’s historic city centre, as well as research into the challenges of energy renovation of protected buildings.

Uspešen začetek konference o teoriji grafov (SGTAC)!

Danes se je v prostorih InnoRenew CoE v Izoli začela petdnevna konferenca Structural Graph Theory Workshop on the Adriatic Coast (SGTAC), ki poteka od 24. do 28. avgusta 2026.
Konferenca združuje 22 udeležencev iz 11 držav, ki bodo v naslednjih dneh skozi predavanja, delavnice in skupinsko raziskovalno delo obravnavali različne odprte probleme s področja strukturne teorije grafov.

Dogodek organizirajo UP FAMNIT v sodelovanju z UP IAM in InnoRenew CoE.

A Successful Start to the Structural Graph Theory Conference (SGTAC)!

Today marked the beginning of the five-day Structural Graph Theory Workshop on the Adriatic Coast (SGTAC), taking place at InnoRenew CoE in Izola from 24 to 28 August 2026.

The conference brings together 22 participants from 11 countries, who will spend the next few days exploring open problems in structural graph theory through lectures, workshops, and collaborative research.

The event is organised by UP FAMNIT in collaboration with UP IAM and InnoRenew CoE.

[🇸🇮 SLO] Leta 1979 je dr. Dragan Marušič v Cambridgeu zastavil vprašanje, ki je skoraj pol stoletja ostalo brez odgovora: ali obstaja končni vozliščno tranzitiven graf brez polregularne simetrije?

Matematika Saul D. Freedman in Melissa Lee sta julija 2026 dokazala, da obstaja neskončno mnogo grafov, pri katerih je odgovor na Marušičevo vprašanje pritrdilen. Najmanjši znani primer ima kar 16.464 vozlišč in valenco 63.

Marušičevo vprašanje se uvršča med odlična matematična vprašanja, saj je slednje kar desetletja spodbujalo razvoj novih metod, povezovalo različna področja matematike in na koncu prineslo odgovor, ki ga skoraj nihče ni pričakoval.

Naslednje leto b***a Saul D. Freedman in Melissa Lee gosta mednarodne konference iz teorije grafov, ki jo junija 2027 soorganiziramo na Bledu.

[🇬🇧 EN] In 1979, Dragan Marušič posed a question in Cambridge that remained unanswered for almost half a century: does there exist a finite vertex-transitive graph without a semiregular automorphism?

In July 2026, mathematicians Saul D. Freedman and Melissa Lee proved that there are infinitely many graphs for which the answer to Marušič’s question is yes. The smallest known example has 16,464 vertices and valency 63.

Marušič’s question is a fine example of a truly good mathematical problem. For decades, it drove the development of new methods, connected different areas of mathematics, and ultimately led to an answer that almost no one expected.

Next year, Saul D. Freedman and Melissa Lee will be guests at the international graph theory conference that we are co-organising in Bled in June 2027.
