🌍 Beyond Code: Computing Solutions for Somalia's Climate Challenge
Yesterday, students from the Faculty of Computing at SIMAD University successfully participated in an insightful session under the Climate Conversation Integration (CCI) Series, hosted by the Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) and organized by Green Champions.
The session was delivered by Ubaid Mohamed Dahir, Head of Computer Science, who highlighted how Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Internet of Things (IoT), and Software Development can play a vital role in addressing Somalia's climate and environmental challenges.
The discussion inspired students to recognize that computing goes far beyond writing code—it is a powerful tool for creating innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions that can strengthen climate resilience and contribute to a better future for Somalia.
On behalf of the Faculty of Computing Student's Association - FOCSA we extend our sincere appreciation to Ubaid Mohamed Dahir for sharing his valuable knowledge and expertise. We also thank the Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) and the entire Green Champions team for organizing this meaningful and impactful session.
We look forward to more initiatives that empower students to use technology for the benefit of society and the environment.
