This morning the faculty got together to watch the graduation ceremony. As much as commencement is a day of celebration, it is also a day for faculty and advisors to say heartfelt goodbyes to the students they have gotten to know in their time at PC.

To our graduates, know that we are missing you today and wishing you well! We know that you will do great things with the lessons you have learned from PC, in and out of the classroom. Remember to stay in touch! We will always be cheering you on from afar!

Congratulations to our graduates! We could not be more proud of all that you have accomplished!

Celebrating Our Seniors: Day Six

Carina Cates joined PC in 2018 - heading to the frigid Midwest from her sunny hometown of Oxnard, California. Carina played for the volleyball team, which is where she met one of her best friends and teammates, shown below in her earliest photo at PC.

Carina's favorite memory was when PC tied at a basketball game, going into overtime and winning on a buzzer shot. She recalls fondly, "The crowd was so happy and it was really exciting!"

After graduation, Carina will be taking a year off from school. She hopes that the time away from her studies will serve as a perfect opportunity to take her MCAT and prepare her medical school application.

Congratulations, Carina!

Celebrating Our Seniors: Day 5

Morgan Naber came to PC in the fall of 2016 from Miller, SD. Her favorite memories at PC include making life-long friends and taking the EMT class, which allowed her to learn more about the many responsibilities of our local EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters.

In her four years, she has not only maintained the rigor of the Biology program, but has also continued to frequently commute and assist in the daily workings of her family's farm. After graduation, she plans to return to the farm and to purchase her own cattle. She states: "I am excited to be back working with my family and caring for all the animals. As long as I am able to be around and care for animals for the rest of my life, I will be more than happy. I am excited for this next chapter in my life!"

Congratulations, Morgan!

Celebrating Our Seniors: Day 4

Lukas Symonds joined the PC family in the spring of 2017 from Canberra, Australia. Set on graduating a semester early, he excelled in the classroom, but his ambitions didn't stop there. Lukas tutored in the Career and Learning Center (CLC) and was a dual sport athlete. He first came to PC to pursue baseball, but later stepped in as a soccer player in his senior year - playing 10 games and even scoring against Nebraska Christian College! Unfortunately, his senior season of baseball was cut short - due to the move to online classes - but fortunately, he and his team went out on an 8-2 win.

Lukas' favorite memories were made with his team - traveling to Tuscon during Spring Break. After graduation, he plans to pursue medical school back in Australia.

Congratulations, Lukas!

Celebrating Our Seniors: Day 3

Alyssa Haberer joined us from Gettysburg, SD - transferring to Presentation College in the second semester of her freshmen year. Her family has strong ties to PC, as both her brother and sister-in-law were also Saints (seen in photo)!

Alyssa signed to the Volleyball team in January of 2017. In fact, her favorite memories at PC were made on the volleyball court - playing her favorite sport and making life-long memories with her teammates!

After graduation, Alyssa will be attending Northwestern College in Orange City, IA where she will begin the Physician Assistant program in June of this year.

Congratulations, Alyssa!

Celebrating Our Seniors: Day 2

Jenny Armstrong came to PC from Watertown, SD in the fall of 2016. In her four years at PC, Jenny has served as an officer in many campus clubs, including President of the Campus Activities Board (CAB), President of the Biology Club, and, this year's, Senior Class Vice President. As if that didn't keep her busy enough, she is also the workstudy for the Student Activities department - ensuring her fellow classmates have plenty to do outside of the classroom!

Jenny has two favorite memories at PC. Her first was traveling to Minnesota with the Biology Club her junior year and spending the day observing surgeries at the University of Minnesota campus hospital (MHealth - Fairview.) Her second, and most important, was meeting the "love of her life" freshmen year and cheering him on at his football games!

After graduation, Jenny has applied to attend graduate school to pursue her aspirations of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA.) She says that she is excited to see where life takes her - "Hopefully, somewhere warm!"

Congratulations, Jenny!

Unfortunately, our seniors got the short end of the stick this year. In light of the protocol put forward to best protect our students during this pandemic, the seniors have had to gracefully adjust to missing many "lasts" of their college careers - last "hoorahs" with friends, celebrations with the departments, and, of course, walking at their commencement ceremony. While our PC people are doing everything to make a fabulous online graduation day, we - in the Biology Department - want to celebrate our amazing seniors from afar!

Celebrating Our Seniors: Day 1

Today, we start with Tyler Bybee! Tyler, a senior from Lancaster, California, has been with us for four years of her undergraduate career. In that time she has played for the Women's soccer team, served as a member of the Biology Club and Presentation Environmental Watchers (PEW), and worked as both an assistant in the IT department and a tutor in the Anatomy and Physiology Lab. It is for these reasons that Tyler was awarded the 2020 Excellence in Science Award and will be added to the commemorative plaque on the North Wing of the 3rd Floor.

In her time at PC, Tyler's favorite memory was winning the PC Indoor soccer tournament - "Finally!" she adds. After graduation, she has chosen to take a gap year to prepare to apply for medical school.

Congratulations, Tyler!
