Last Friday night, Dec. 5 OLLI was spotlighted as part of KACU-FM’s radio play based on the classic movie “It’s a Wonderfull Life” at the Paramount Theatre. Dr. Rod Williams and Shandus Helms rounded out their regional Texas Tech OLLI class, A Journey Into Giant Amphibian Ecology, in Abilene.

This hands-on course placed a lens on the remarkable world of giant salamanders—hellbenders in particular—from their evolutionary history and ecological roles to the water quality challenges they face today. Because the world of giant amphibians is bigger than you think.

RIP Sonny Curtis. Our deepest condolences to the Curtis family.

A prolific singer and songwriter who got his start with Buddy Holly, he also wrote “I Fought the Law,” “Walk Right Back” and hundreds of other songs.
