ONU HealthWise Pharmacy is excited to welcome Kami McDonald, PharmD '26 and Abrianna McManis, PharmD, as our newest ONU HealthWise Pharmacy residents!

Originally from the small town of Dillonvale, Ohio, Kami has always valued close community connections and building relationships with others. After coming to ONU for school six years ago and working throughout the surrounding communities, she realized this was exactly where she wanted to be. "My HealthWise APPE experience solidified my passion for staying in rural healthcare and becoming the kind of pharmacist who is always there to help patients through both care and meaningful one-on-one relationships,", Kami shares.

Abrianna shares, “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. ONU was one of my top choices for pharmacy school, so I am excited to finally be involved with the university over the next year! From the beginning, the atmosphere has been incredibly inviting. I am most excited about strengthening my ambulatory care skills and experiencing the mobile clinic!”

Congratulations to Dr. Natalie DiPietro Mager, Professor of Pharmacy, and Dr. John Mager III, Professor of Biological Sciences, on the publication of their article, "Addressing the Impact of Climate Change on Health Using the Pharmacists' Patient Care Process," in the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (JACCP).

Their work highlights the important role pharmacists can play in addressing the health impacts of climate change and reflects the commitment of Ohio Northern University faculty to advancing research that improves patient care and public health.

Our 14th annual Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference (OPRC) was held today. This event offers a dynamic, one-day platform to showcase impactful research, build professional connections, and drive the future of pharmacy practice forward.

During the past few weeks, we have had the opportunity to celebrate and honor the incredible careers of Dr. Karen Kier and Dr. Pat Parteleno.

From last lecture celebrations to their retirement party, there have been stories, laughter, appreciation, and reflection on the many lives they have impacted throughout their careers. We are grateful for everything they have given to our community and to the profession.

Both Karen and Pat have made a lasting impact through their years of dedication, leadership, mentorship, and service. Their contributions have touched countless students, colleagues, patients, and community members, and their influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Congratulations to Karen and Pat on their retirements, and thank you for the remarkable difference you have made. Wishing you both all the best in this next chapter. 🧡🖤
