Big congratulations to USCA English Department graduate Noelle Kriegel, who earned a spot on the 2025 Shortlist for the Charleston Literary Festival Cato Fellowship Prize!

Announcing the 2025 Cato Fellowship Prize Shortlist! ✨

These fourteen talented writers were chosen from close to 200 applicants, an extraordinary group of emerging voices from the Carolinas. Each demonstrates exceptional promise in their fields of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, but only two will be awarded the prestigious prize.

Two writers from the shortlist will receive full access to Charleston Literary Festival’s sessions and receptions, free accommodations in Downtown Charleston, networking and collaborative opportunities beyond the Festival, and a stipendiary of $7,500 to allow them to further their writing career as they see fit.
