On this Christmas Day, the Alumni Board would like to wish every brother and their family, a Merry Christmas and a productive and healthy New Year. We do not believe there is another organization anywhere that shares a bond as strong as the brothers of Lone Star. On this Christmas day and as we move into 2026, we would like to ask every brother include our Brother Bill Dickey in their thoughts and prayers every day. Brother Bill pledged Lone Star in the great class of 1971, and has been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Bill has touched many lives as a fellow brother, teacher in Akron Public Schools, the wrestling coach at his alma mater North High School and through his devotion to his church. Bill's the consummate fighter and he will fight this dreaded disease with everything he has. We, the brothers of Lone Star need to give everything we have and surround Bill with strength, positivity and brotherhood as he fights to beat this dreaded disease! On November 18th, brother Greg Patterson passed away unexpectedly. Greg (Pat-Man) was a great brother, for which all that knew him can attest, for all those that did not know Greg...you missed the opportunity of enjoying a great time with a unique character. Brothers...I'm going to speculate many that took the time to read Gif's obituary were enlightened and possibly surprised to learn that throughout Gif's life he passionately and unselfishly gave of his time (and $$) to help and uplift the live's of his fellow Americans. From his career path: teaching, coaching and counseling our youth...to his selfless volunteering for area meal programs for the hungry...to befriending a death row inmate who had nobody. Dave also gave freely of his time and support of Lone Star..whether organizing and participating in our annual events, as a loyal alumni board member and former president to his generosity as one of the premier donors to our new home, which will be completed in October.

Per David's request "in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Akron-Canton Food Bank"...the Lone Star Alumni Association will be making a donation in Gif's memory "To an exceptional life...From your Lone Star Brothers".
