Special thanks to one of our incredible supporters, , for backing our rocket design team! Their support plays a critical role in helping us push the limits of what we can design, build, and test. Thank you to Morgan Engineering for helping us purchase the propellant tanks for our next liquid-propelled rocket, a huge contribution that directly advances our capabilities and upcoming launch goals. We’re proud to have Morgan Engineering behind us as we continue advancing our projects and working toward even bigger milestones.

On the morning of March 29, 2026, the Akronauts successfully launched Emergence 6, marking a significant step toward their goal of reaching the Kármán line. The mission achieved a fully successful recovery utilizing a newly developed reefed parachute system and reached speeds of Mach 2.5.

During flight, the team recorded an anomaly that prevented the rocket from reaching its targeted apogee. However, with complete data successfully recovered, the team is well-positioned to analyze the event, apply key insights, and refine the Emergence design. These improvements will support a stronger return next year with the objective of achieving greater altitudes and speeds. Akronauts 2 Space!🚀

Yesterday, the Akronauts successfully completed the static fire of our 8” solid rocket motor!

The test ran clean from ignition through burnout, delivering a peak thrust of 3,426.47 lbf and classifying as a Q11114 motor. This marks a major milestone for the team and reflects months of design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing coming together!

Stay tuned for more this week!

Surprise! The Akronauts are bringing more than just Emergence VI to the desert this week.

On March 26, 2026, we’ll be static testing our 8-inch diameter rocket motor in California. Some of you have seen pieces of this project over the past few months and it is time it all comes together.

The motor is designed for a 12 second burn and will produce over 113,000 N·s of total impulse, powered by 125.5 pounds of propellant. This places it in the Q10000 class.

This test represents a major step forward for our solid propulsion team with pushing the limits of what we are capable of building.

This week, the Akronauts successfully completed a full-scale dry run of the latest iteration in the Emergence rocket series: Emergence 6.

This vehicle incorporates several major design advancements, including a redesigned fin can, a new motor retention system, and a reinforced aerodynamic structure engineered to withstand the loads associated with Mach 3 flight. Emergence 6 will also be powered by one of the highest-thrust collegiate rocket motors developed to date.

These improvements represent the next step in the evolution of the Emergence program as the team continues pushing the limits of collegiate rocketry

Welcome to the next milestone in the Akronauts’ timeline…

Emergence VI is a single-stage rocket continuing the progression of the Emergence program. E6 will fly on the same 6-inch diameter, 120-inch long Q12500 motor used in Emergence V, powered by our “Wayside White” propellant. This mission will also feature a newly designed motor attachment system, improving the structural integration between the propulsion system and airframe.

Emergence VI will showcase several new developments from the team. Our recovery team will be flying a newly designed reefed parachute system, and the vehicle will will fly with a carbon fiber airframe along with a conical nosecone built using a high-temperature epoxy system to improve structural and thermal performance at high speeds.

Launch is scheduled for March 29th from Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) in California.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Akronauts and helped make this mission possible!
