Bayard Rustin died on this day in 1987, just 4 days shy of the 24th anniversary of the March on Washington. Rustin was the primary organizer of the march.

Back in 1956, in Montgomery, Alabama, he played a key role in introducing Martin Luther King Jr. to Gandhi’s teachings while organizing carpools for the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

The march continues.

Do you want a relationship completely free of conflict?

Spoiler alert: it doesn't exist. Psychologist Dan Wile once said that “when choosing a long-term partner, you will inevitably be choosing a particular set of unresolvable problems.”

Conflict is inevitable, but the way you approach disagreement with your loved one can make or break your connection.

Dr. John Gottman’s research shows that happy relationship partners tend to use a gentle approach during conflict. When something bothers one partner, they use "I" statements and avoid blaming. When upset, they take breaks to self-soothe and then return to the discussion in a calmer, more mindful state. Habits like these can make all the difference when you and your partner aren't seeing eye to eye.
