Well, against better judgment and common sense the CAD program was scrubbed. Perry retired, and Covid pretty much put the final nail in the coffin. BUT, maybe it's coming back! New and improved. Hoops to jump and it won't happen overnight, red tape and all, but fingers crossed.

Well, it was a tough term but everyone survived. In fact the 2020 class has graduated, without fanfare. It was disappointing, but we did have a gathering at a park in the rain. Everyone received their final project with faculty and families. It was pretty cool.

Next, in case you hadn't heard, I have decided to retire. It was effective the June 12th but the contract ends June 30. So what's the real day? I'm going to choose June 25th. That was the last day I had an LB email account and had been advising student daily until then. Now, I'm done.

Lastly, due to state budgeting and a loss of funding to LBCC, the CADD program is terminated. I believe they are going to finish the 2nd year students classes this next year so they may graduate. Technically, the program is on "hiatus" until the funding is returned and stable. They will consider bringing the program back as a couple certificates. Other programs have gone through a similar process in the past. 2 other programs were cut, Theater and WET. RIP to us all.

Grading in the digital age! Dual 23" monitors (grades on left & files to grade on right), Spacemouse, Extra keypad to make my left hand useful, Wacom touch monitor for feedback (with homework to be graded) , Wacom Pen by keyboard & mouse on the right. Sometimes I forget which keypad to use, but it could be worse. That's full nerd on there....

A walk down the hall to the CAD lab and through the lab. They are stiffining all the cinderblock walls so they (hopefully) don't fall in a big earthquake. Dust & grime everywhere, sometimes it's so loud we can't hold class and they are way behind schedule. The rumor is, the school gets matching funding for a retro fit rather than a rebuild. Why didn't they do it in the summer? Why didn't they do it when they were remodeling the rest of the building and not rip out what they did a year ago? Above my pay-grade.

Round 1 of the Solids 1 final: Derby Car Assembly. We don't have enough room in the CAD lab, due to earthquake reinforcement of the walls. We are assembling in the WET lab.

Applied Solids Final Assembly! We did hovercraft again this year. Electronics really didn't want to work this year, but they all did an excellent job. Congratulations to the entire class! Hopefully a video will follow soon. :-)
