On April 18th the College of Saint Rose held its fourteenth annual Research Symposium. Several of our very own Communications students had their research featured (scroll to see photos of their work!).

Zachely Nickens’ project was titled “We Removed Your Post Because It Goes Against Our Community Guidelines: Does the Marketplace for Ideas Need Government Regulation?”.

MaKenna Williams’ research, “Copyright Issues in the 21st Century,” examined a variety of copyright cases in the United States.

Kyla Mayberry’s study (“It’s Not a Phase Mom: Emo Subcultural Identity and the Performance of Self”) used multiple methods to explore emo subculture and performance.

CJ Odenhdahl’s research was titled “To Be The Man, You’ve Gotta Beat The Man: Gender and Intersectionality in Intergender Wrestling.”

Maria Rivera studied TikTok and relationships, with a project titled “Are TikTok Relationships Between Influencers and Followers Imaginary?”.

Daniel Rechni’s project, “Reality Versus the “Real”: Violence in Video Games and the New Normal,” examined the relationship between video gaming and violent behaviors and attitudes.

Emma Cicchetti’s study, “Artificial Intelligence Technology: Natural Processing of Language, Privacy, and Informational Biases,” received the 2023 Sister Katherine McPeak Library Research Scholarship Award for her project.

We are so proud of our students. Congratulations to all who participated!"
