Happy birthday to “father of modern economics” Adam Smith (1723-1790), who you know from capitalism. Also the concept of the “Invisible Hand” - no, not a D&D cantrip, but the idea that individuals acting in their own self-interest in a free market inadvertently benefit the broader society. This may or may not be true - the hands are invisible, after all - so we do the best we can to help society with the visible hands we have. Like the hundreds of handshakes President Avery doled out during last week’s Commencement, celebrating our students’ incredible achievements. Moral of the story? Uh….hands.

More of a coffee person? We'll also have a table at Margin Coffee in downtown Albany! Same time, roughly 9am-noon.
