Take a look at what a Principles of Management class looks like with Dr. Brownell! Students play the clap game to work on focus and communication. And when the group needs to be hyped up, students get in their middle to give a little pep talk! Afterwards, students pair up for Walk-and-Talk to discuss "Managers' Roles and Responsibilities". What a way to get class rolling!

Students in Professor Xu’s SP22 Consumer Behavior class designed and conducted their own blind taste tests! What a fun way to teach students about data collection to help brands know if their products are distinguishable among competitors!

Stone Lutz graduated this past spring from the Business Administration program at RSC! Stone relocated to Tampa to work for Total Quality Logistics, one of the largest freight brokerage and third-party logistics firms in North America. Stone says the work culture aligns very well with his needs from a job, mentioning occasional Nerf gun fights and a company-provided beer on Fridays! No wonder they were named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Large Employers in 2022.

Stone took this photo right after viewing his office overlooking Tampa Bay! We are so proud of Stone and his accomplishments during and after his time at Russell Sage College!

Stones advice to students is "Put yourself in uncomfortable situations, you need to be comfortable being uncomfortable."

Congrats Stone!

TOP 3 QUALITIES THAT MAKE A GREAT ENTRY-LEVEL JOB CANDIDATE

We visited the Albany Job Fair this week and connected with 25 employer participants to ask them one question …
“What is the one thing that you look for in an entry-level job candidate?”

Here’s what we learned are the top 3 qualities that employers look for:

1. A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
Show up to your interviews with a smile on your face and an eagerness to get started. A good attitude gives you the energy to grow as an employee, and that can be contagious. Watch out coworkers! You might catch my good attitude!
2. WILLINGNESS TO LEARN
As much as we try to prepare our students for what’s to come post-grad, a lot of the time a job requires training and learning on-the-go. The more you learn, the more prepared you are to set and achieve goals qualifying for promotions. Don’t show up to your new job thinking you know it all!
3. COMMUNICATION
Many of us are guilty of opting to send an email over a phone call at times. But a problem can be solved within a few minutes over the phone, as compared to a few hours or days via email. As several folks shared: A voice call is also a better way to build relationships.
