Congratulations to alum and math teacher Brendan Ritchie '23 for winning the Detroit Pistons Game Changer award! The Game Changers program presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan celebrates and rewards educators and non-profit leaders in Southeast Michigan who make a positive impact in their classrooms and/or community. Educators and non-profit leaders are selected based on nominations from students, colleagues, family members, and community members. We are so proud of you, Brendan!

Join Albion's Big Read for a free viewing of the incredibly timely film, "Counted Out," Wednesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. at the historic Bohm Theatre. After receiving rave reviews on the film festival circuit, "Counted Out," will be shown for the first time ever in the state of Michigan! Prior to the screening the Education, Physics, and Math departments are also hosting a free interactive reception (framing event) at 6pm in the Ludington Center. Light refreshments will be served.

Through collaboration with the Fritz Shurmur Center for Teacher Development, participating teachers are eligible for up to 2.5 SCECH. (Electronic sign in required / if unable to attend both the reception and the film partial SCECH is available).

According to the film's website, "'Counted Out' investigates the biggest crises of our time—political polarization, racial and economic inequity, a global pandemic, and climate change—through an unexpected lens: math. In our current information economy, math is everywhere. We have had the honor of Dr. Raven L. Jones as our fall 2023 Capstone Speaker. Dr. Jones spent two days on campus with our EDUC 195 and EDUC 196 students and student teachers. Last night's dinner and conversation, Teaching for Joy & Justice: Centering Community and Global Context, was the perfect way to end our evening! Thank you, Dr. Jones!

Twin Day for Homecoming Spirit Week. Two of our student teachers, Ian Lee and Chance Persondek, are doing their internship at Northwest High School. One of their mentors is an Albion College graduate! Go Mounties!
