As our graduating class prepares to take the next step in their professional journeys, there is a deep sense of pride and fulfillment that comes with completing such a rigorous doctoral program. This achievement reflects not only the dedication and perseverance of our students, but also the unwavering commitment of our faculty to delivering a curriculum designed to set them up for success.
Beyond a sense of accomplishment, this experience helps shape the standard of excellence and passion our graduates carry forward into the physical therapy profession.
One of our soon-to-be graduates' shares—“Thank you for everything. You’ve built an amazing program. I’ve told you this before, but I’ll say it again. Almost all of my years in school felt like it was a waste of time. It wasn't until I was in the DPT program at UNM that I truly knew without a shadow if a doubt that the education being provided was truly excellent and worth my time."
Congratulations to our graduates, we can't wait to see what you accomplish!👏

We are so proud of our student’s accomplishments! Also shout out to the faculty and staff for leading the way!

We welcomed the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy to campus for three days of a board retreat this week. The American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) is a not-for-profit association dedicated to excellence in physical therapist education programs as a whole. ACAPT's core purpose is to lead physical therapy in the pursuit of academic excellence.

Did you know that that UNM is a member of this Council and that 92% of all PT academic programs are members?

We are proud to recognize our students who were selected to attend APTA Capitol Hill Advocacy Day at Washington D.C.! Their selection alone speaks to their professionalism and commitment to advancing the physical therapy profession.

During their time on Capitol Hill, they gained valuable insight into the importance of advocacy and the role APTA plays in representing and supporting our field. They approached every moment with enthusiasm, remained fully engaged throughout the experience, and represented not only our program but the profession of physical therapy with excellence.

Our students had the opportunity to speak directly with Senator Martin Heinrich, Senator Ben Ray Lujan, State representatives Melanie Stansbury and Teresa Leger Fernandez where they shared their perspectives and advocated for meaningful solutions to challenges impacting the PT field.

Their reflections highlight the impact of this experience:
“We need to be the change” — emphasizing the importance of pushing for policies that expand the scope of physical therapy and inspiring the next generation to continue this ongoing work.
“Our voice matters even as students” — a powerful reminder that advocacy starts now, not later.

We couldn’t be more proud of their leadership, passion, and commitment to shaping the future of physical therapy.

For the first time in our history…… Lobo DPT students have achieved a remarkable ranking. Our first time NPTE pass rate for 2024-2025 is ranked number 1 out all programs! We share this achievement with only 6 other schools! Way to go LOBOS! Kudos to all students, faculty and staff! It takes a village to achieve this phenomenal outcome but ultimately it all goes back to our students hard work, resilience and grit! So proud!
