Gamma Kappa Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.

It would be the first Latina sorority at the university and become a large part in the founding of the university's first Multi-Cultural Greek Council. The chapter was founded to promote the voice of the Latino student and the surrounding community, especially for women, young adults and children. Gamma Kappa and its members have received numerous campus and community awards. In addition, its memb

ers have excelled academically and pursued diverse and successful professional careers. Gamma Kappa's Founding Line has seventeen founding sisters. "The Phenomenal Seventeen" at their founding, was known as the longest line in Lambda Theta Alpha's 27 years of existence.

Gamma Kappa's Line One has five sisters who became members March 20, 2004. "Los Cinco Sentidos" became a crucial piece to the beginning and foundation of Lambda Theta Alpha on the university campus.

Gamma Kappa's Line Two has ten sisters who became members November 6, 2010. "The Enchanting Revival" re-established Lambda Theta Alpha on the university campus.

Gamma Kappa's founders hoped to exemplify the true essence of community activism, and not just community service. Since that time Gamma Kappa continues to show the meaning of "disturbance" and "revolution" in academic, professional and personal pursuits.

NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!
Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. Gamma Kappa Chapter stands in solidarity with our black sisters and siblings! LTA was established by 17 Founding Mothers who advocated for justice & paved the way for us to continue their legacy while upholding the principles of unity, love, and respect.
Today and every day, we see the effects of anti-black racism ruins and traumatizes the Black community while many of us standby with our privileges. We know that this is the inherited effects of enslavement and Jim Crow in our country. We call on everyone to be a comrade, to stand with our Black sisters, siblings, and extended Black community, to let them know, we hear you, we see you, we will make space for you to be heard, we will unlearn white supremacist ideals, and we will stand for you and your continued fight towards complete equality AND equity in every system and social structure that surrounds us.
