Hear more about Elizabeth...
âI was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and started at UNM in the fall of 2017. I love the outdoors and exploring new places, so naturally, New Mexico has provided me an enchanting desert landscape to explore and adventure in. Connecting with the culture and history around me through my studies at UNM and serving the uUNM community has strengthened the ties I have tho this state. The various opportunities I had to connect with my community through volunteering with Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless in their Harm Reduction Outreach and Art Street community art studio, allowed me to connect with my diverse community and help solve the issues we face. I joined the Trailblazers in the fall of 2018 following my older sisterâs footsteps who was also a Trailblazer during her time at UNM. My favorite Trailblazers memory is the pizza party we had with President Stokes and her husband. It was an incredible opportunity to sit down and have genuine conversations with the President of the University as an undergraduate student. It was also pretty cool to get a tour of the University House by the President herself and her husband! I am graduating summa cm laude this year with a degree in Biochemistry and Spanish with an Honors Designation! After graduating I will be working in a breast cancer research lab at the UNMH Comprehensive Cancer center while also working as a teaching assistant for the department of biochemistry and molecular biology. I will also be applying to medical school with the hopes of one day becoming a surgical oncologist!â
