We aim to provide distinctive opportunities for students who show promise of outstanding academic achievement and to do this so well that our graduates are competitive with the best students of any college or

university. The excellent instruction and individual attention of our Honors College create the benefits of a first-rate, small liberal arts college atmosphere within a progressive research university setting. The UNM Honors College presents the Japan Study Abroad Program, an intensive program of the arts and culture of Japan. The program offers students 6 semester hours of credit. The program will meet once a week (for a one-hour and 15-minute session) starting in the second 8 weeks of the spring 2026 semester and will have ten days (May 18-31) of expeditionary fieldwork in and around Kyoto, Japan.
