Three RMU grads, 5 degrees, and one Colonial family. ❤️💙

Meet the Bender Family and the most recent RMU graduate, Luke! 🌟

“My first day at RMU, it felt like home.” said Luke. “I know it sounds cheesy, but I got this feeling when I first walked on campus that this was my place.”

Luke graduated this past May with both a bachelor’s in Finance & Accounting and a master’s in data analytics. 🎓

“My mom would tell me about the Hale steps, and how she could barely walk up them her freshman year but could run up them her senior year. I got on campus and was like holy crap, she wasn’t kidding. But I can run up them now.” ⛰️🥹

Luke had multiple professional experiences outside the classroom during his time at Robert Morris, including internships with BNY as a finance controller intern, PwC as a private tax and wealth management intern, and S.R. Snodgrass as an external audit intern.

“I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for RMU. Thank you RMU for building me up, for building my skills. I’m glad I went here the last four years and I’m going to miss it very dearly when I leave.”

Outside academics, Luke was a member of Robert Morris University Phi Delta Theta, the RMU Bands & Performing Ensembles, a peer tutor, Robert Morris University Concierge Team, and leader of the class of 2026 gift program. Luke says he “loved serving this University.”

He also remembers his time in the classroom fondly, especially the relationships he made with professors. 🏫

“All the professors here are extremely friendly. RMU started as the Pittsburgh School of Accountancy, we’re one of the best in the country. The thing that was different here is the professors are actually passionate about what they were teaching. They wanted the students to learn as opposed to just getting the grade.”

Luke’s parents graduated with bachelor’s degrees in business administration in 1996 and 1997 and his mom returned to complete her master’s in HR management in 2010.

Meet Christian Park ’26 🌟

Christian graduated in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and a minor in Finance. Since graduation, he has started his professional career as a full-time Actuarial Analyst with UPMC Health Plan. 👏 👨‍🎓

During his time at RMU, Christian made a lasting impact across campus through his leadership and involvement. He served as a Community Advisor, Vice President of the Actuarial Science Club, an Actuarial Science Club Peer Mentor, a member of the DataFest Committee, and an active participant in the Honors Program. 🤩📈

Reflecting on his RMU experience, Christian shared:

“Over the four years I have been here, I have made lifelong friends and achieved and/or exceeded every career goal I had coming in. I am extremely grateful for my time at RMU and would not change my mind if I got a chance to go and choose a different school instead.” ✨

Bobby Mo around the 🌎

10 RMU students recently explored Germany and Belgium through a Faculty Lead Education Program (FLEAP) guided by Dr. Karen Paullet and Dr. Jamie Pinchot. 🇩🇪✈️🇧🇪

Students had the opportunity to visit Covestro’s German headquarters (), connecting their international experience to a company with strong ties to Pittsburgh. 🧪🧬🔬

During the visit, they met with Security Incident Response Analyst and RMU alumna Carrie Barnhart () and Cyber Defense Lead Markus Schmall, who shared insights into the evolution of cybersecurity over the past 25 years.

Our Colonials gained a firsthand look at cybersecurity operations and learned what it takes to protect a global organization in today’s digital landscape.

The students traveled to Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Bruges and Brussels. The trip combined cultural exploration, architectural discovery, local cuisine and professional opportunities that extended learning beyond the classroom.

Meet Kendall Keener ’26 🌟

Kendall graduated in May with her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is already taking the next step in her career and education. Now, she is working full-time with UPMC in its mental health branch while simultaneously pursuing her Master’s degree at RMU. 👏

Throughout her time at RMU, Kendall has been actively involved in campus life, serving as a member of Phi Psi and the RMU Cheer Team. Her involvement both inside and outside the classroom helped shape a well-rounded college experience built on leadership, connection, and personal growth. ✨

Reflecting on her journey at RMU, Kendall credits the support of the university community for helping her reach her goals:

“The advisors and professors at RMU have been a huge part of my accomplishments as they have helped me professionally and personally when I doubted myself. RMU is my home away from home.” ❤️💙
