My name is Clayton Willis, I'm a Junior at Grand Valley State University in the Film & Video Productions program. I previously worked as the Director of Photography & Lead Editor on Bender (2022) for Fiction I. This winter for Fiction II, I have teamed up again with Nick Oudhoff, who will be helping me produce a student film called Flatfoot. Over the past few years, I've begun to greatly enjoy mov
ies and TV shows that deal with the high school and college experience. However, I've noticed they always tend to strongly lean in the direction of either the characters' social lives or their college profession. Also, a major theme I plan to heavily focus on is the character's struggle to find meaning in the reading and writing aspect of her major as she’s being challenged in both directions to try harder or just drop out. This seems to be a trend I've noticed in the past decade of many college students feeling they aren't gaining enough real-world experience to be prepared for the real world and with Flatfoot, I want to display that struggle and why it should be given more attention. But I also want to display how many parts of the college experience are essential for someone to fully develop who they are.
