Hugest of congratulations to Grand Valley State University Assistant Professor Sasha Debevec-McKenney, who was just named the 2026 winner of the prestigious Swansea University Dylan Thomas Prize for her debut book JOY IS MY MIDDLE NAME in a unanimous decision by the judges. Way to go, Sasha. We are so lucky to be able to teach with and learn from you!

Last night at the Writing Senior Celebration, we honored the work and accomplishments of our 2026 graduating class of writing majors, who are leaving Grand Valley State University for life post-college. Farewell for now, friends. We can’t wait to see your words out in the world.

Huge congratulations to Writing Affiliate Professor Elizabeth Kalos-Kaplan, who is the recipient of the CLAS Teaching Excellence Award for Affiliate Faculty this year! The award selection committee commended Professor Kalos-Kaplan for her outstanding work with students and for her work leading important conversations about AI in the department and across campus through the Digital Literacy Institute. Thanks for everything, Elizabeth. We are so lucky to teach with and learn from you in the Writing Department!
