Back in the South, seeing alumni and friends, including Dr. Keith Bird, ‘67, former chancellor of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System. A naval historian and longtime higher education thought leader, he’s a fountain of wisdom for me.

The Alma College experience is built on rich human relationships. Two photos, same idea.

Yesterday scores gathered in the Chapel to honor the memory of the late Dr. Charles Gray, longtime coach, athletic director, and faculty member. Charlie impacted generations of Scots, and we heard moving stories from a dozen of his former players and colleagues.

This past week members of our men’s lacrosse team went on a cruise with their families. Over the years teammates and their families have bonded beyond the competitions. Their connections will long outlive their four short years on campus.

Many pundits question whether college is worth it. It is, because Alma College, and places like it, enables us to do what we as humans were created to do: live in community, sharing life’s best and worst days, and thrive. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
