For golfer Sam Brown of Sofia, Bulgaria, scholarship support has made a meaningful difference during his GSW journey.

“My experiences at GSW have been nothing short of outstanding. I am very grateful for the atmosphere that is fostered throughout campus, whether that has been from the cafeteria to the teaching faculty, and to the athletic department,” said Sam. “Being a student-athlete at GSW has had its challenges, but it has been doubly rewarding throughout the process. Scholarship aid has been a huge help; I can confidently say that it has taken some kind of stress off my shoulders, and I could not be more grateful for that.”

Our colleges and divisions are participating in some friendly competition for GSW's Day of Giving! Each area will seek to have the most donors to help meet our 700-donor goal this year. Our three-time reigning champion, the GSW College of Education, will be looking to defend their title!

When making a gift to any fund at gsw.edu/DayOfGiving, be sure to select which college or division you'd like to give credit to for the competition! Winners will receive a trophy, along with bragging rights for the year and a special celebration.

GSW played an important role in Carl and Judy Tott’s lives, and now they’re giving back to the university that helped them earn their master’s degrees.

“After moving to Americus, Georgia Southwestern allowed us both an opportunity to earn our master’s degrees while working and raising our children,” said Carl. “GSW is a great asset to Americus and Southwest Georgia. We are both glad to be alumni of a great institution and now have the ability to give back and support current students in their quest for a college degree.”

GSW's Day of Giving is now live on our fundraising platform at gsw.edu/DayOfGiving! Supporters are encouraged to create a Give Campus account to create giving challenges and set up matching donations ahead of the big day on September 17.

Creating an account also allows you to become an advocate and track how many clicks and total donations your social sharing raises throughout the campaign! Tag a friend you think would and be a great advocate!

For Sandra ’74 and Skeeter ’77 Daniel, supporting GSW is a way to honor their connection to the university and invest in the future of nursing.

“As an alumnus of GSW and a proud supporter of the nursing program since 1986, I wanted to help continue the legacy of my wife by establishing a much-needed endowment for the faculty,” said Skeeter.

“As a graduate of the ASN and BSN programs, I truly value the opportunities that the university has afforded me,” said Sandra. “One of the reasons I chose to support faculty development is to ensure that all faculty have the opportunity to stay current in the specialty areas they teach. Continuing education is expensive, but worth the investment.”

We are less than two weeks away from GSW's 8th Annual Day of Giving! In addition to online giving, you can support GSW by eating at a variety of local restaurants and retailers on Thursday, September 17 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and even doing some shopping while you’re out and about! A portion of all sales during certain hours will go towards the Day of Giving.

Start making your dining plans, whether it's coffee and biscuits for the office that morning, a quick lunch date, or a family dinner later that night. Giving never tasted so good!
