Phi Kappa Psi - Iowa State University (Iowa Beta)

Phi Kappa Psi is one of the largest fraternities at Iowa State. Learn more today! The Iowa Beta chapter of Phi Kappa Psi was founded in 1913.

For several decades, the chapter thrived and enjoyed full membership and good times. Over 1300 men were initiated into our chapter, more than 900 of whom are still living. Unfortunately, a period of low membership and weak leadership in the 1990s resulted in the chapter surrendering its charter in 1999. One measure of the strength of a chapter is the involvement of its alumni. The Iowa Beta alumni

felt a deep sense of personal loss when the chapter closed. Many started immediately developing a plan to bring the Iowa Beta chapter of Phi Kappa Psi back to viability. Execution of the plan began in 2005 when a new group of undergraduates was formed. In 2006 the chapter house was renovated and reopened, and in 2007 the chapter was rechartered. These are exciting times for Phi Kappa Psi. If you share the high standards to which we aspire, if you have an entrepreneurial spirit, then perhaps Phi Kappa Psi is for you.

Phi Psi Farmyard Philathropy!

This Monday, Phi Psi held a philanthropy bringing in animals from Hovick Farms to help raise money for Hunters Fund.

This past week, the brothers had a blast competing alongside our wonderful pairing in Greek Week, placing 2nd overall! We are proud of our efforts across the board, especially raising over $30,000 as a team for Special Olympics Iowa, and grateful for the memories we’ve made.

We’re proud to announce that Phi Kappa Psi Iowa Beta has been awarded the 2025 President’s Cup, an award given to the #1 overall SFE chapter at Iowa State!

This marks the first time our chapter has earned this honor, a testament to the dedication, leadership, and brotherhood that defines us. From academics to service to community, this win reflects the standard we strive to uphold every day.

Also, congratulations to Brother Carson Ekis for receiving the 2025 IFC President of the Year Award, and Brother Thomas Roth for receiving the Director’s Award.
