As a reminder, students will be required to update/verify their emergency information for the spring 2023 semester in AccessPlus starting January 4, 2023.

This information is vitally important in an emergency, which is why Iowa State University now requires all enrolled students to list their cell phone number, in-session/local address, and at least one emergency contact.

In order to ensure all student emergency information records are comprehensive and current, you will need to complete or verify your information prior to gaining access to the “Student” tab in AccessPlus (this includes class schedule, registration, financial aid info, etc.). Completing this update will take approximately two minutes, and these record updates will only be required once per semester.

If you experience any technical challenges updating your emergency information in AccessPlus, please contact the IT Solution Center at 515-294-4000.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Dean of Students Office, [email protected], 515-294-1020.

All residence halls & apartments are open during winter break. There’s nothing you need to do if you plan to be in Ames over break. If you do leave for a few days, please check your email for specific information on what to do if you’ll be gone – things like leaving your heat on and taking your fish home!

Desk/mailrooms will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 17.

For increased security during break, residence hall exterior doors lock at 7 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 16, and will unlock at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan.12, 2023. Carry your keys & ISU card with you at all times. Don’t prop doors open or let strangers into apartments/residence hall buildings.

All policies are enforced during break.

Visitors must be escorted at all times. Anyone who has gained or provided illegal access to the apartments or residence halls during break will be subject to disciplinary and/or legal action.

Parking will be enforced in Reserved, General Staff and Medical Permit spots. You will be able to park in any student parking areas.

Staff will enter your room during break to complete room checks, for room repairs and/or for routine maintenance.

We know you have worked hard over the previous 14 weeks and want to remind you that the Division of Student Affairs staff continues to be here to support you!

Take care of yourself. Get rest. Eat well. Stay connected to resources that make a difference.

Take care of each other. Our homes should be spaces where we all thrive. Do the little (and big) things that make living on campus a caring and connected community.

Lastly, never hesitate to reach out to the many resources available to you. Resident Assistants, Hall Directors, Apartment Community Directors, and Hall Desk staff are great people to start with if you encounter questions or challenges. The staff in Student Assistance, Student Counseling Services, Academic Success Center, Thielen Student Health Center, The SHOP, ISSO and many other offices understand you and your needs. Take advantage not only now, but into spring semester.
