ADVANCED TRAINING. Dr. Tressa Reiner's journey to advanced training in the College of Veterinary Medicine reflects both a strong educational foundation and a clear passion for specialized care. After graduating from Iowa State, Reiner is a comparative theriogenology resident in the Large Animal Hospital where she manages a wide range of cases from breeding soundness exams to emergency dystocias.

CHAMPION OF CARE. Dr. Megan Gallagher, a third-year equine surgical resident, has been named the June Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center Champion of Care. Her nominator said... "Dr. Gallagher has been patient and kind through months of progress and setbacks. She explains everything clearly, respectfully, answers all my questions and does her best to accommodate my work and travel schedule. We are so grateful for all she has done to help Violet live her best life!"

SIGNIFICANT UPGRADES. The Large Animal Hospital in the College of Veterinary Medicine has recently completed significant facility upgrades with the installation of new headgates and updated swing gates. These improvements enhance animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures, creating a safer environment for patients, staff and veterinary students. The improved patient care safety and efficiency supports hands-on learning and reinforces the hospital's commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare.

IOWA HORSE FAIR. Congratulations to Julie Schoenrock and Danielle Anderson-Jeppesen who won gift certificates at the College of Veterinary Medicine's Iowa House Fair booth. The college's equine faculty, staff and students provided veterinary services and staffed a booth at the recent event.

AT THE MARKET. Stephanie Canon, Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center's clinical support manager, staffed the College of Veterinary Medicine's tent at a recent Ames Farmer Market. The college is scheduled to have a tent at the weekly Saturday event through the end of August.

BIG LIFT. A new miniature horse lift will help Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center teams provide safer, more efficient care for miniature horses, small ponies and donkeys. The lift will be shared by the Farrier Shop, Theriogenology, Equine Field Services, and Equine Surgery services and allows better access to the feet and mouth of smaller equine patients, supporting procedures such as hoof care and dental work. The lift was fabricated from a motorcycle mechanic's table by ISU farrier Doug Russo, creating a practical solution tailored to meet the needs of LVMC patients and clinical teams.

SPOTLIGHT ON FIELD SERVICES. No two days are exactly alike on the fourth-year Veterinary Field Services clinical rotation at Iowa State University. Students travel to area farms working with a variety of clinicians while providing individual animal and herd health care for beef, dairy, swine, sheep, goats and camelids.
