Sarah Ramundt ('16, journalism and mass communication) works as the executive director of creative content for Louisiana State University, and an episode of the gymnastics docuseries she shoots, produces and edits won a Suncoast Emmy for Sports Program - Post-Produced or Edited - Single Program.
The series follows the LSU gymnastics team throughout their season. The episode centered around the LSU vs. Oklahoma meet on Valentines Day, hence the name, "For the Love of It."
Ramundt did have help creating it with footage from their student interns, and one of her students, Logan Sampey, produced the Kentucky recap portion. Ramundt and her team also produce docuseries on LSU's football and baseball teams. Their football show and gymnastics show air on the ESPN family of networks, as well as on their subscription platform, LSU+.
"I wouldn't be where I am today without Greenlee and Iowa State. My time in school coupled with the experiences I gained at Cyclones.tv has set me up for success in my career. I learned about storytelling in class while simultaneously getting hands-on experience in my internship," Ramundt said. "At Iowa State, I fell in love with the world of sports beyond the court, field and arena. It propelled me to where I am today. If you'd ask me as a Greenlee student if I would ever win an Emmy, I'd probably have said 'no,' but I would have told you I'd be telling the stories of student-athletes."
