Graduate students in RESEV 5530: Intermediate Educational Statistics are building the skills to turn data into meaningful insights 📊💻 In this course, students explore statistical models like ANOVA and regression while learning how to choose the right methods for their research questions.

Through hands-on work and discussion, they also examine the assumptions behind these models and how to properly test them, developing a deeper understanding of the “why” behind the analysis 📚✨ Experiences like this help future researchers become more thoughtful and intentional in how they design and interpret studies.

Students in HIST 4980: Methods of Teaching History/Social Sciences are bringing the past to life through hands-on, inquiry-based learning 🔍📚 Working with Rachel Hansen from the Iowa State Historical Society, they explored how artifacts and images can be used to spark curiosity and deepen understanding in the classroom.

Through a “History Mysteries” activity, students analyzed objects from museum collections, asking questions and piecing together evidence to determine their purpose 🧩✨ This approach helps future teachers see how engaging students as historians, through observation, questioning, and investigation, can lead to stronger connections and lasting learning.
