ine Teaching farm produces about 200 litters a year, from which both market and breeding stock are sold. This herd has become well known for its high meat quality Berkshire pigs, which have won many state and national awards. Sold into many states, these Berkshires have been exported to a number of foreign countries. Managed by Al Christian for nearly fifty years before his retirement in 2010, this farm provides an environment for observation and learning.

The Iowa State University Swine Teaching Farm is proud to have received the Grand Champion Truckload and Champion Crossbred Truckload at the National Barrow Show. Thank you to all of the students who spent time in the weeks before and during the show preparing the barrows for this exhibition!

The Iowa State University Livestock Judging Team started fall competition at the National Barrow Show. The trip was highly successful, with the Judging Team being named Reserve High Team Overall and the Iowa State University Swine Teaching Farm exhibiting the Champion Truckload.
