Wounds We Wear

From May 18 to June 20, 2026, artist Mahwish Chishty will be at OOO (Out of Office) to develop a new body
of work called Wounds We Wear.
Wounds We Wear asks viewers and participants to consider their relationship to U.S. war
technology and its current wars, including by designing and/or embroidering patches.
Chishty will incorporate these collectively-made patches into the installation at the center
of her fall 2026 solo exhibition at the Herter Art Gallery at the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst.

PUBLIC EVENTS
Embroidery/Sewing Circles: May 29-June 1, 2026, 10 am - Noon.
Open Studio: Saturday, May 30, 2026, 4-6 PM.

Come work alongside Chishty and embroider patches that will become part of Wounds We
Wear. You are welcome to come for one or multiple sessions. Experience in embroidery is
encouraged but not necessary to participate.

It is with great excitement that I invite you to the exhibition of my BFA thesis show at UMass Amherst. This one-day-only event is the culmination of my studies, combining my ceramic work and floral design practice into a unique gallery experience that you won't want to miss.

Saturday, May 2nd arrive

- Artist Talk,light refreshments & Panel Discussion: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Parking is free on Saturdays in all lots surrounding the Studio Arts Building. Please note that street parking is metered; check posted signs for details.

2025 alum Michelle Mott's thesis film, Beyond the Grave, was accepted into the Easthampton Film Festival , happening this week. It was actually selected to be a part of two of the programs! Congrats !

Our Patio Melt Pizza Party is next Friday, April 24th in the Studio Arts Building from 12-2:00. (Monday's class schedule will be followed that day)

Junior Scholarship Awards will be announced at 12:45!

Zihuan "Sam" Qiu has generously offered to do a cyanotype workshop for the event. Please bring a photo if you would like to create a print. First come first serve.
