Sigma Phi Epsilon - UMass ΣΦΕ

Sigma Phi Epsilon is a national Fraternity. We believe in the principles of Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love.

Sigma Phi Epsilon MA Alpha is one of the longest tenured Chapters at any campus with the highest average GPA on campus. Carter Ashton Jenkens, the 18-year-old son of a minister, had been a student at Rutgers University, New Jersey, where he joined Chi Phi Fraternity. When he transferred to Richmond College in the Fall of 1900, he sought companions to take the place of the Chi Phi brothers he had l

eft behind. He found five men who had already been drawn into a bond of friendship and urged them to join him in applying for a charter of Chi Phi at Richmond College. The request for a charter was forwarded to Chi Phi only to meet with refusal. Chi Phi felt that Richmond College was too small for the establishment of a Chi Phi chapter. Wanting to maintain their fellowship, Carter Ashton Jenkens, Benjamin Gaw, William Carter, William Wallace, Thomas Wright, and William Phillips decided to form their own local fraternity.

- Founded on November 1, 1901, at Richmond College.

- Over the past two decades, SigEp has recruited more men than any other collegiate fraternity. Currently, over 14,000 undergraduates are members, making SigEp the largest national fraternity.

- Maintains the highest first-year member retention rate, over 90%, of any national fraternity.

- More than 280,000 lifetime members rank SigEp in the top four among national fraternities.

- Governed by the Grand Chapter, which is composed of undergraduate delegates from each chapter, District Governors, and the National Board of Directors.

Our first Brother of the Week is CJ Aylward. CJ is a civil engineering major from Franklin, MA. In his free time, CJ enjoys fishing, hanging out with friends, and watching football.

Our next Brother of the Week is Carter Nichols. Carter is a Political Science and Legal Studies major from Washington, D.C. Carter is interested in Con Law and, in his free time, likes to hang out with friends, go out, listen to music, watch shows, and go to the beach or lake.

Last but not least is our third Brother of the Week, Will Dawes. Will is a Building and Construction Technology major from Acton, MA. In his free time, Will enjoys fishing, playing guitar, working on cars, and hanging out with friends.

Our new brother of the week is Joe Clancy. Joe is a sophomore building and construction technology major from Upton, MA. He currently serves as our Vice President of Communications and previously served as alumni outreach chair. In his free time, Joe likes to listen to music, watch The Sopranos, play yard games, and spend time with the brothers.

Our new Brother of the Week is Connor Burta. Connor is a junior psychology major from Beverly, Massachusetts. A transfer student from North Shore Community College, he enjoys cooking, thrifting, playing basketball, and hiking in his free time.

Congratulations to our brothers who made the Dean’s List with an above 3.5 GPA, and to our highlighted brothers with a 4.0. We are incredibly proud of these young men for their hard work and dedication, and are excited to see their progress for the Spring 2026 semester!

Our new Brother of the Week is Liam Stepanick. Liam is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering student from Middleton, MA. He currently serves as our Vice President of Recruitment. In his free time, Liam enjoys skiing, going to the gym, and finding new things to do outdoors. Liam is very excited to watch our chapter grow, and we can’t wait to see his success.

Our new Brother of the Week is Owen Amodio. Owen is a senior marketing major from Martha’s Vineyard. Not only is he a mentor to our younger brothers, but he is also an HVAC employee for his family company based in Martha’s Vineyard. Post-graduation, Owen is pursuing a job in project management. In his spare time, he enjoys watching football and playing lawn games with the brothers.

Our first Brother of the Week this semester is Jason Siglag. Jason is a senior from Ardsley, New York, pursuing a dual degree in Business and Psychology. He previously served as the chapter’s Vice President of Finance. In his free time, Jason enjoys watching football, and during breaks, he volunteers at a children’s social skills program.
