As part of her listening tour, President Genco recently visited the Presidential Scholars Colloquium, giving Honors College students an opportunity to engage directly with university leadership. She shared her own story and vision for UB while inviting students to ask questions and offer their thoughts on the university's future.

Undergrad Research Spotlight: Tanisha FilsAime

As part of the CSTEP Summer Research Program, Tanisha FilsAime spent eight weeks investigating disparities in postpartum contraception counseling.

Analyzing data from 221 participants, they found that birthing method and number of children influenced whether patients received desired counseling outcomes.

From literature review to statistical analysis and conference presentations, Tanisha gained hands-on research experience while advancing an important conversation on maternal healthcare equity and unbiased postpartum care for all.

We are thrilled to welcome Maxie DiBiso to the Honors College family as our new Program Coordinator!

Originally from South Florida, Maxie moved to Long Island to attend college at Hofstra University, where she earned first a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Studies and Political Science, with a minor in World Literature, and then MSEd in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies. Following graduate school, she served as a Residence Hall Director at SUNY Old Westbury.

Outside of work, Maxie enjoys pottery painting, tennis, reading, cooking, and baking, as well as spending time with family and friends.

This prestigious award recognizes alumni whose leadership, service, and commitment make their communities better places for everyone.

Through her dedication to advocacy, justice, and helping build a healthier community, Dr. Krolikowski embodies what it means to “love your neighbor.” Her work inspires all of us to show up, speak out, and invest in the well-being of those around us.

We are grateful for her leadership and proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations, Dr. Allana!

Ananya Singh, a 2025 magna cm laude graduate of the Honors College and the University at Buffalo School of Management , where she studied Management, Marketing, and Financial Analysis. During her time at UB, she held leadership roles on several executive boards, including the Honors College Student Association, the Marketing Association, and the Venture Capital & Private Equity Club. She was also actively involved in the Consulting Club, UB Blackstone Launchpad and Alpha Kappa Psi.

Ananya took full advantage of the internship opportunities available to UB students. She served as a Summer Analyst at 43North, a Research Analyst Intern with the Strategic Research Group at Capgemini, and a Marketing and Operations Intern at the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. These experiences helped pave the way to her current role as a Financial Analyst on Mattel's Global Brand Team.

Reflecting on her experience at Mattel, Ananya shared that the company's Mentorship Program has given her the opportunity to connect with many accomplished women across the organization and throughout the industry.

Buffalo Comm-Lab promotes community engagement, service, and social justice.

This semester, the club is organizing a Food Drive for the International Institute of Buffalo! A donation box will be available in the Honor's College Lounge from September 14 to October 1.

Accepted donations include: rice, pasta, bread, flour, sugar, cornmeal, vegetable/corn oil, tea, canned/dried beans, dried lentils, canned fruits/vegetables, and tomato paste.

The Honors College is excited to partner with the UB School of Nursing as they launch the $2 million William R. Kenan Jr. Scholars Program!

Scholars will conduct research, participate in enhanced leadership development, and complete projects that help underserved communities.
