UMass AASA

UMass AASA The Asian American Students Association's goal is to advocate unity among Asian and Asian Americans.

The Asian American Student Association was created in 1975 with the mission of serving the needs and interests of Asian and Asian American students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In so doing, AASA promotes the views, voices, and experiences of Asian and Asian American students; it provides Asian and Asian American students with a concrete political, educational, and social foundation,

and promotes the understanding and awareness of the Asian and Asian American cultures and its surrounding communities. The association has also been collaborating with administration, faculty, staff and student groups in advocating for the establishment of an Asian American studies program. Asian students are the largest minority on campus, but there is a lack of educational programs to educate students regarding Asian and Asian American history and cultures. Thus, as a group, we try and fill that void by providing Asian and Asian American awareness on campus.
