Elizabeth Broderick '26, early childhood education, is one of eleven seniors to receive a UMass Amherst Alumni Senior Leadership Award, given to students who "have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the UMass Amherst community" and "distinguished themselves through important contributions to student organizations, campus jobs, academic excellence, and community service."

"What I loved about Elizabeth from the first day I met her, is how focused, organized, and committed she was to her studies and future goals," says Lecturer Eirini Pitidou, who coordinates the Early Childhood Education program at the College of Education. "As an experienced gymnast, she learned through her engagement in competitions from a very young age how to apply discipline in all the areas of her life—including academics. I have no doubt that she will be a leader in her chosen career path and will excel as an early childhood teacher. Achieving excellence is part of her core identity."
