Congratulations to Prof. Craig Martin and team!!

Waterfall Scientific, a new company co-founded by Prof. Martin has been selected by Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to lead a six-company consortium under the Genetic Medicines and Individualized Manufacturing for Everyone (GIVE) program. The award, up to $54.5 million across the consortium, will advance a novel continuous-flow RNA manufacturing technology developed in the Martin and Perry labs, and will bring together industry partners in cell-free nucleic acid synthesis, LNP formulation, microfluidics, advanced analytics, and software engineering to revolutionize genetic medicine manufacturing.

Congratulations to Chemistry Prof. Vincent Rotello, and the research team at UMass Amherst and UNC Asheville, on this significant NIH grant supporting ways of tackling infectious disease!

Vincent Rotello, the Charles A. Goessmann Professor of Chemistry and a Distinguished Professor at UMass Amherst, is part of a research team—alongside UNC Asheville’s Amanda Wolfe and Ryan Steed—that will receive a $505,000 National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to advance new approaches for understanding and combating infectious disease.

This grant will support urgently needed antibiotic research focused on "targeted development and selective delivery of small molecule antibiotics for the treatment of multidrug resistant infections caused by gram-negative pathogens."
