Add this to your calendar! Thursday, September 17, from 5 to 9 PM in Downtown Amherst for the town’s annual Amherst Block Party,

The Block Party is a local tradition that brings thousands of residents, students, and visitors to downtown for live music and performances, arts & culture, local food, and more.

A short walk from the Amherst College campus, this is a great opportunity to get to know the community. The event is free and all are welcome!

Thank you, Downtown Amherst businesses, for welcoming new students to town! And also to this year’s Orientation Leaders, who were the best guides to all things local.

For the second year in a row, we teamed up with Amherst College Orientation and Amherst Business Improvement District to welcome new students. Thanks to the BID’s partnership with 30+ local businesses and organizations, students were able to explore downtown on a beautiful August morning.

Hitting pause on our social media for the summer season ☀️ While we’re on break, check out our profile for pinned posts about our Summer Engagement Guide and summer events on the Community Calendar. There are still many local opportunities to engage with and support our community, attend events, and build in-person relationships.

Thanks to community partners, students, faculty, and staff for a great semester. The CCE will be back on social media at the end of August, and we look forward to seeing what everyone has been up to and finding ways to collaborate with you in the next academic year.

Local organizations need extra hands while many students are away. Ready to help? Here are a few ideas to help you get started.

1. Join an orientation to become a community resource volunteer at the Amherst Survival Center.

2. Help distribute free groceries at the Amherst Senior Center on Wednesday mornings throughout the summer.

3. Prepare and serve homemade meals at Not Bread Alone. No previous experience required; volunteer coordinators will show you what to do on site and sign-up is easy.
