The alumni of the Leadership & Innovation program at Daemen University are thrilled to announce that Thameena Hunter, MSN, RN is our 2025 Alumna of Distinction!!! Thameena is a dedicated leader within our campus community and across Western New York.
Thameena Hunter, MSN, RN, is the Director of System Health and Safety at Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC). Ms. Hunter is a registered nurse and healthcare leader with nearly 20 years of experience working across a wide range of hospital departments. She began her career providing hands-on patient care at the bedside and has since advanced into progressive leadership roles focused on improving safety, wellness, and quality across the healthcare system.
In her current role, Hunter provides strategic oversight of ECMCC’s Employee Health, Occupational Medicine, System Health and Safety, and Safe Patient Handling programs. She also chairs the hospital’s Workplace Violence Prevention and Safe Patient Handling committees, leading system-wide efforts to reduce injuries, enhance staff well-being, and promote a culture of safety.
Hunter earned her Master of Science in Nursing Executive Leadership from Daemen College and holds certification in Critical Incident Stress Management. She has been honored with the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, nominated for Nurse of Distinction, and recognized with the Distinguished Nurse Award. Her leadership has also been highlighted in Buffalo Business First’s “People on the Move” feature.
Daemen University
