Honoring a Visionary Legacy: Dr. Kisho Kurokawa
Anaheim University was honored to pay a special tribute to the late Dr. Kisho Kurokawa—the acclaimed architect, sustainability pioneer, and namesake of the Anaheim University Kisho Kurokawa Green Institute—at the recent Japan–U.S. Leadership Summit at United Nations University in Tokyo on 10/10/25. The tribute recognized Dr. Kurokawa’s enduring global influence on sustainable design and international collaboration, as well as his belief that education and leadership are essential to building a more balanced and resilient future. Reflections were shared by Dr. Yuri Konno, CEO of Dial Service and former Vice-Chair of the Anaheim University Executive Advisory Board during Dr. Kurokawa’s tenure as Chair, along with Mr. Mikio Kurokawa, who spoke movingly about his father’s legacy.Through the Kisho Kurokawa Green Institute, Anaheim University continues to advance his vision by offering online degrees, diplomas, and certificates in Sustainable Management, preparing global leaders to meet today’s environmental and social challenges. His vision lives on—through education, sustainability, and global leadership.

In Memory of Award-Winning Actor Tatsuya Nakadai (1932 – 2025):
It is with deep respect and heartfelt gratitude that Anaheim University’s Akira Kurosawa School of Film pays tribute to the legendary actor Tatsuya Nakadai, who passed away on November 8, 2025.

Nakadai-san’s extraordinary artistry left an enduring legacy in Japanese and world cinema. His collaborations with Director Akira Kurosawa produced some of the most powerful performances in film history — including Yojimbo (1961), Sanjuro (1962), High and Low (1963), Kagemusha (1980), and Ran (1985).

We at the Akira Kurosawa School of Film are profoundly grateful for his contribution to our Master of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking program. Nakadai-san shared his insights through a special video interview that continues to inspire Anaheim University students, offering firsthand wisdom on performance, discipline, and the soul of storytelling.

As he said in the video interview:
“I will give up when my body doesn’t move, but I want to stay an actor until I die.”
True to his words, his final stage performance was held in Noto, Ishikawa, Japan, in May 2025 — a testament to his lifelong dedication to his craft.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and fans around the world. His legacy will forever live on through the films he made and the artists he continues to inspire.

From March 22–25, students in Anaheim University’s Ed.D. and MA in TESOL programs gathered in Irvine, California for an inspiring four-day residential session led by two of the world’s most respected applied linguists — Dr. David Nunan, Founding Dean of the Graduate School of Education, and Dr. Rod Ellis, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Students participated in dynamic sessions on: 🔹 Translanguaging & research design
🔹 Task-based vs. task-supported language teaching
🔹 Identity in language learning
🔹 Key controversies in language teaching
🔹 Student research presentations and open forums

The session provided a rich opportunity for students to engage in collaborative research, develop their own projects, and receive guidance from highly distinguished experts in the field of TESOL. 🌐📖
