Here are a couple reminders for faculty as we come up to midterms
Remote proctoring:
Honorlock is a remote proctoring system used at UAA to protect the integrity of online assessments. Instructors can use Honorlock for any online courses, as well as individual student make-up exams for In Person courses. If your department wants to use Honorlock more broadly for an In Person course, you can request an exception. Courses using Honorlock must include it in the syllabus. Register to use Honorlock: https://forms.gle/nCt76cAMbQ3deU44A. You can also make an appointment with an Instructional Designer to get help using this software. https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/appointments/schedules/AcZssZ377zCRFO7o5WIy5R6nasWGRackN0pq5AearZrUm7qnjbeF5WWe2XLckxoH47BIQHawQ2L_U_x0
Don’t use Respondus without IT and Instructional Design approval
UAA IT is working to add the Respondus Lockdown Browser for computer labs. We are not yet ready to support Respondus for “bring your own device” courses, as it does not work with phones or tablets, and students must have admin access to install it on their laptop. Courses using the Lockdown Browser on student devices must include it in the syllabus.
Please work with the Instructional Design team ([email protected]) if you are interested in using the Lockdown Browser. Do not turn on Respondus in your Blackboard course without talking to us first! Because we share Blackboard with UAS, which uses Respondus for its remote proctoring (instead of Honorlock), it is possible to turn on settings that will bill your students inappropriately. If this happens, UAA is legally required to reimburse those students, as those course costs were not posted in advance.
We will share more information about Respondus once IT makes it available on university-managed computers.
