Christian higher education seeks more than intellectual development. It seeks the cultivation of faith, hope, love, wisdom, justice, courage and self-control. These virtues prepare graduates not simply for successful careers but for faithful lives of service and leadership—in every vocation.

As we, a campus community of students, staff and faculty, dig deep into what really matters, we turn our attention to the seven cardinal and theological virtues that serve as the foundation of our University.

To kick off this series, we asked people across campus to share their thoughts on faith ahead of Dr. Chuck Fuller’s Friday teaching on this theological virtue.

At the beginning of each semester, our faculty and staff gathers to pray over the semester and our student body. We are so grateful for the opportunity to pray over our university and over our students as we enter a new school year.

This semester, Dr. Howard Murphy, Associate Professor and Coordinator, Homeland Security and Emergency Services, led our faculty and staff in a brief devotional time before the prayer walk. He reminded them about the opportunity they have to mentor and guide students throughout their time in college, saying, “A mentor does not just give advice, they share their life, model grace, and walk beside us through ups and the downs.”

Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, just as one person sharpens another.”

Hi Community of Anderson,

It’s that time again!

Anderson University is about to kick off its 2026-2027 academic year.

And, as you know, that means there’s a little more traffic, a little more noise, and a whole lot of excitement. Especially during this upcoming week, which we refer to as Welcome Week for our students.

Please note the following:

Wednesday, August 26 is the first day of classes. Expect to see sidewalks, crosswalks and roads busier than what you’ve experienced during the summer.

Saturday, August 29 marks the end of Welcome Week events. This final event includes various activities throughout the day and will carry on into the evening with a fireworks show beginning at 8:45 p.m.

Great Hospitality (one of AU’s core pillars) starts with being a great neighbor. Thank you for the privilege of being ours.

Tonight, our student leaders gathered to pray for first-year students and to spend time in worship. We’re so thankful for the upperclassmen that will be investing into our incoming students this year.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” — Hebrews 12:1-2
