Soon after announcing my candidacy for BCC trustee, people started sharing stories about the difference Butler has made in their lives. Avery, a friend of our family, seized the opportunity to get a head start on college through one of Butler’s Early College Academies. As a result, she began her career as a hospital RN at a young age without the burden of college loans and is already investing in a 401K! Avery began taking pre-nursing classes as a high school junior. She graduated with an associate’s degree from Butler, fully prepared for nursing school, at the same time she graduated from Andover Central High School. At the age of 17, she entered Butler’s nursing program, graduated nursing school at the age of 19, and passed the NCLEX (a nationwide exam for licensing nurses) a few weeks later. Avery credits the opportunities, accessibility and support provided by Butler and her nursing, clinical and adjunct instructors for greatly impacting her career, her life and her self- confidence. Early College Academies allow high school seniors to earn an associate degree or certificate from Butler as they complete high school.

We are excited to announce that Christy Streeter is returning to Butler Community College as the new Associate Dean of Online, High School, and Community Learning.

With nearly two decades of innovative work in higher education, Christy is thrilled to have accepted this position and hopes to make an immediate impact.

Christy’s passions outside of education are spending time with her husband, 6 children and 2 granddaughters 💜 She is also a huge dog person and loves to spoil her four dogs 🐕 🐩 🐩 🐶

Christy believes in the power of family - including the Butler family - and cherishes the moments spent enriching the lives of others.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Christy on her new role and wish her a successful and fulfilling tenure as the Associate Dean.🎓✨
