What is Student Foundation and Why Should I Join?
So what exactly is Student Foundation?
This philanthropy organization is found on many big campuses around the nation, however, smaller campuses are starting to join the movement and form chapters in their private colleges and universities. Student Foundation is traditionally a group of students that work to raise money for their school to fund awards and scholarships. At Trine, Student Foundation members work closely with President Brooks to ensure that the university can continue to provide scholarships and academic awards to their students.
How did we get our start?
Late last semester, a few Trine students who work in the Alumni building on campus got together with our advisor, Steve Nicolet, to found the Trine University Student Foundation Chapter. Along side the Steve are five members of the Executive Board, President Blake Grosse, Vice President of Membership Chinazam Okoroafor, Vice President of Activities Upasana Shrestha, Vice President of Communications Alexis Kennedy, and Vice President of Finance Grace Wielfaert. Each member of the Executive Board runs each of their own committees, while President Blake Grosse oversees the work of the committees. At the start of the 2019 spring semester, Student Foundation hit the ground running by recruiting 44 new members within their first eight weeks as an official organization.
