The IGV competition focuses on 3 components: lane following, obstacle avoidance, and GPS waypoint navigation. Here's our vehicle, GOAT doing a run on the practice course.

On Friday, IGV was at the Multidisciplinary Design Program Expo and it went phenomenally! We talked with a wide array of people, spanning from young kids to college students to professors and industry members looking for great teams to invest in, which definitely fits our bill! We also snapped a great shot of a few team members posing with our robot at the Expo. We are super proud of everyone's hard work on the team this year and what we have to show for it!

Today's Spotlight Post is of Michael Zhong, a current junior studying Computer Science here at the University of Michigan. He joined IGV because he is captivated by the power technological innovation has to change the world. He thinks that self driving vehicles are a big step towards what the future will look like and he really wants to be a part of it here at IGV.

Michael is excited about the future with IGV and is excited to see IGV grow. He enjoys learning alongside everyone and is looking forward to seeing the results of all the hard work at competition.

Outside of IGV, Michael is a part of a group called Photonix, which is a glowsticking performance arts group on campus. Another interesting thing about Michael is that he has also done fire poi, which is related to glowsticking!

In the words of Albert Einstein, "A person who never made a mistake, never tried anything new", and as our team approaches competition this year, we reflect on our challenges and the progress that have gotten us thus far in our new adventure as a team. We are so thankful for Michael's hard work this year and can't wait to showcase his and the rest of the team's work at competition at Oakland University from June 1-4th, 2018!

Today's Spotlight Post is of Daniel Jung, a current member of IGV's Business Team! He is a current sophomore here at the University of Michigan studying Computer Science all the way from Queens, New York! Daniel joined IGV because he saw how enthusiastic Mish (our current team leader and IGV's founder) was about IGV when he first met him at an EECS 203 lecture.

Daniel feels like we have come a long way with a few members. He thinks that because we now have solid engineering and business teams, IGV will continue to grow and advance. He wants IGV to be known to all the UMich students. He also feels that he has become reliable as a business team member working not only for himself but for the whole team.

Outside of IGV, Daniel likes to read the news with his spare time as well as watch some YouTube and television shows. He really enjoys reading about various random things that peak his interest. Overall, we have enjoyed Daniel's work with IGV this year and can't wait to work with him again next year!

Today's Spotlight Post is of Rahul Gupta! He is a current junior here at the University of Michigan studying Business from right here in Ann Arbor, Michigan! Rahul is the current leader of the Business Team for IGV and joined because he help lead the business effort/competitive spirit of an innovate, passionate autonomous vehicle team.

Rahul is excited for the team's competition and also has been excited by our recent team sponsorships that the Business Team has secured for IGV. Through the team, he has also learned more about the field of Autonomous Vehicles and has gotten the chance to get closer to our team this year as well. Rahul has experienced personal gain from the ways the team has challenged him at an individual level to produce higher quality work.

Outside of IGV, Rahul is a proud student in the Google Community Leaders Program working with 100+ SMB's each year helping them not only develop a digital footprint but educate them on how to use Google AdWords and Analytics to harness data driven insights. Additionally, he is a tennis coach at Father Gabriel Richard for the singles lineup and spends time coaching tennis players of all skill levels ranging from elementary - high school/college level. He also enjoys driving, gardening, and doing DIY projects at home with his dad. Most notably a project he completed was building a wine cellar in his basement.

Also a fun fact about Rahul is that the word "cookie" was his first english word and since he was first exposed to the word via Sesame Street, cookies have been his guilty pleasure and a pivotal part of his lifestyle. Additionally, the phrase "Ball Is Life" is a quite common phrase he uses, and an odd fact about him is that he has never lost a Ping Pong game since he has started college (Over 600 wins - 0 Losses).

Overall, Rahul is a driven individual that cares about the people he works with and believes that no matter how daunting the task or idea is, if you invest in your team and helping them achieve their own professional and personal goals, the intensity levels will increase and foster a more productive environment. This is an environment he strives to cultivate anywhere he goes, especially here at IGV.
