Join WISE Faculty Director, Dr. Elena Gallo, for drop-in office hours!

Elena Gallo, WISE Faculty Director and Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Michigan is opening her door (real or virtual) for informal one-on-one or small group drop-ins. No agenda, no slides, no jargon. Just conversation, and probably some unsolicited life advice.
She'll bring the real-life stories (including the ones that didn't go well), a bit of humor, and zero filter. Elena was raised by a single mom, has crossed an ocean to do STEM, and has been the only woman in the room more times than she can count. She's here to talk about all of it — the wins, the spectacular failures, the weird politics of academia, and how to pick yourself back up when things don't go as planned.
Come with questions, come with venting, come with nothing at all. Topics can range from research and career strategy to imposter syndrome to what it's actually like to build a life in science.
